Shrubby thymes have an upright, bushy habit, and usually grow to between 12 and 24 inches tall and wide. They're too tall to place between paving stones, but can be used next to paths or in beds. |

Camphor Thyme
| A round shrub, strongly camphor scented. Short-lived in my experience. Small pink flowers are nearly hidden by surrounding large, rose-tinged bracts. Images: whole plant. |
capitatus
| A kind gift from a fellow thymaholic (thanks Ron!), this thyme has a strongly angular branching pattern and an open structure. Flowers are on the large side, have long stamens. Images: closeup. |

| This thyme and the lower growing T. neiceffii are both often called "juniper thyme" because the leaf arrangement and plant structure mimic some low-growing junipers. This one sprawls over my thyme mound at will. Occasionally a branch will die back. Amazing when in bloom, as the entire plant turns pink at once.
